PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for Redevelopment of 21 Odisha Railway Stations on Feb 26

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stones for the redevelopment of 554 railway stations and 1,500 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) across the country on February 26th. This ambitious project, estimated to cost Rs 41,000 crore, aims to significantly improve passenger experience and safety.

Odisha will see a significant upgrade with the redevelopment of 21 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations, including Bimlagarh, Jaroli, Rairangpur, Panposh, Balasore, Betnoti, Sambalpur City, Jharsuguda Road, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Rayagada, Paralakhemundi, Koraput, Jeypore, Talcher, Raghunathpur, Paradeep, Kendujhargarh, Bhadrak, Belpahar and Brajarajnagar will receive a total investment of Rs 900 crore. The project promises enhanced accessibility, modern amenities like air concourses, wider foot-over bridges, upgraded waiting areas, and improved hygiene facilities.

The initiative also includes the construction of 52 ROBs and RUBs in Odisha alone, with a total project cost of Rs 1,420 crore. This will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at level crossings, enhancing safety for both motorists and pedestrians.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme envisions a passenger-centric approach. Travellers can expect amenities like free Wi-Fi, local product kiosks, executive lounges and dedicated spaces for business meetings.
