Odisha CM Unveils Logo Of 1st World Odia Language Conference To Be Held In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday unveiled the logo for the inaugural World Odia Language Conference, named “Biswa Odia Bhasha Sammilani,” featuring the tagline ‘Language is the Future.’ Scheduled for February 3 to 5, the three-day conference aims to facilitate intellectual discourse among scholars, researchers, and students.

Acknowledging Odisha as the first linguistic state in modern India, CM Naveen highlighted the elevated status of Odia as a classical language, enhancing the region’s cultural prominence. The conference will explore the past, present, and future of the Odia language, charting goals for its widespread promotion.

Emphasizing Odia’s unique heritage, the Chief Minister expressed expectations that the event would foster increased appreciation for the language among future generations. Additionally, discussions will focus on leveraging modern technology to propel the language forward.

Originally sanctioned during a Heritage Cabinet meeting on December 19, 2023, the conference aligns with the Chief Minister’s vision to unite stakeholders and ensure its success. The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture department has been directed to coordinate all aspects of the event.

CM Naveen Patnaik’s prior appeal to make the conference a triumph underscores its significance. The gathering of global linguists and language researchers will delve into the antiquity and continuity of the Odia language. Beyond exploring its origin and development, the conference will feature fact-based presentations on the language’s history, present state, and future trajectory. The objective is to bolster Odia’s recognition as a classical language and attract the younger generation to integrate it into contemporary technological applications.
