Odisha’s ‘Ratnagiri Road’ Railway Station Gets Renamed as ‘Udayagiri-Ratnagiri Road’ Station

Jajpur: The Central Government has officially renamed the ‘Ratnagiri Road’ railway station as ‘Udayagiri-Ratnagiri Road’ station. This change comes under the Haridaspur-Paradip rail link project and falls under the jurisdiction of the Khordha division of East Coast Railway (ECoR).

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs, CS division, has sent a letter to the Special Secretary to the Home Department of the Odisha Government, requesting the publication of the renaming in the Odisha Gazette. The ministry provided guidelines on how to mention the new name in English, Hindi, and the local language. The railway station is located near the renowned Boudha Vihar in Udayagiri.

Previously, local residents and the Udayagiri Mahotsav Samiti had raised concerns about the neglect of the Boudha Vihar in Udayagiri and demanded the renaming of the railway station. Consequently, the decision was made.
