Rourkela Declared The Cleanest City Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At the recently concluded Swachh Survekshan 2022, Rourkela has maintained its One Star Rating under the Garbage Free City category.

In the aforementioned category, the steel city is ranked number 45 out of 382 cities in India (with a population of 1-10 lakhs). Additionally, out of the nine cities in contention from the state, it has earned the top spot. Seven out of the eleven cleanliness metrics for the city are at or above 90%.

“In the Swachh Survekshan 2021, Rourkela was ranked 57^th whereas this year we’ve secured 45^th, which is practically a 12 rank improvement. This has elevated Rourkela to the list of Top 50 cleanest cities in the country” the Rourkela Municipal Commissioner Dr. Shubhankar Mohapatra said.

In order to maintain the cleanliness of the city, he urged the people of the city to continue the support they had shown during the Swachh Survekshan.
