Sarpanch’s Husband Nabbed For ‘Impregnating’ Minor

Gajapati: A man was arrested on Sunday from Adaba village in Gajapati district on charges of impregnating a minor girl.

The accused has been identified as Mansi Mandal, husband of a local Sarpanch.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father, the accused established physical relations with his daughter, who studies in class 9, on several occasions by intimidating her. After her parents discovered her pregnancy, the girl revealed the ordeal.

Acting on the plaint, police arrested Mandal on charges of rape under the POCSO Act and forwarded him to the court today.

Meanwhile, the minor girl was being counselled by the local Mohana Childline.
