Staff Murders Office-Bearer of Old Age Home Over Monetary Dispute

Paradip: An office-bearer of an old age home was allegedly murdered by a staff of it over a monetary dispute in Paradip, on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Santosh Behera, the President of Ratnamalijema Jarashram.

As informed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Paradip Nimai Charan Sethi, a youth named Kirtan who was working here as a staff has murdered Santosh Behera, the president of Ratnamalijema Jarashram.

The ASP added that Kirtan had sought money from Santosh to visit his home and the latter had reportedly told Kirtan to wait for 2-3 days so that he can arrange money for him. Displeased over the issue Kirtan brutally assaulted Santosh with a chopper while the latter was sleeping.

“Santosh had head injuries and he has succumbed to that, Kirtan was emotionally distressed after committing the act and attempted to commit suicide by consuming DAP fertilizer which was kept for plants in the garden,” stated ASP Sethi.

“Our police team immediately shifted him to CHC Paradip. He is undergoing treatment at the CHC,” he added.
