Odisha Vigilance Team Arrests Police Constable with ₹6 Lakh Cash in Boudh

Boudh: In a major crackdown on corruption, the Odisha Vigilance team on Wednesday arrested a police constable, Harish Chandra Sahu, for possessing Rs 6 lakh in cash. The arrest was made in the Baghiapada area of Boudh district.

Sahu, a member of the District Voluntary Force (DVF), was intercepted by Vigilance officials near the Baghiapada outpost under the Boudh Town Police Station. During the search, the officials recovered Rs 6 lakh in cash from his possession.

Sahu was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the cash, and the money was confiscated. Vigilance officials are now conducting simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Sahu to investigate the possibility of disproportionate assets (DA).

The investigation is also focused on determining whether Sahu used his position as a DVF constable to collect bribes from ganja dealers, cultivators, and traders to facilitate their illegal ganja trade. According to reliable sources, Sahu was suspected of being involved in such activities, prompting the authorities to monitor his activities closely, leading to his arrest.
