Woman Hacked To Death In Rayagada Over Suspicion Of Witch Practice

Rayagada: A woman was allegedly murdered by a villager who suspected her of practicing sorcery in the Koilapara village under Town Police station limits of Rayagada district today.

The deceased has been identified as Chandrama Bibhar. Meanwhile, police has begun probe after detaining the accused, Rajesh.

According to reports, Rajesh arrived at the victim’s house and knocked on the door. When Chandrama opened the door Rajesh attacked Chandrama with an axe killing her on the spot.

Following this, locals spotted her in a pool of blood and informed the police.

On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Prima facie, it is suspected that the incident might have taken place over suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
