Survey for Bhubaneswar Metro Train Project Starts

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation started the survey for the proposed metro railway project in Odisha’s capital city. The survey was taken up from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan Square in Bhubaneswar. The project is targeted to be completed in four years.

A joint team from the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, TPCODL, GAIL, BSNL, WATCO, and Commissionerate Traffic Police took part in the survey work.

The team inspected public roads, checked electricity poles, water pipes, telephone lines, gas pipelines, and other infrastructure in the path of the proposed metro project sites.

The proposed 26 Km long metro railway project will connect the Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia in Cuttack. The Bhubaneswar metro project will be an elevated one.

The project will be taken up by the Odisha government at an expenditure of Rs 6,255 crore.

The 26 Km metro rail stretch will have 20 stations- Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapuji Nagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vani Vihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nanadankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari and Trisulia Square.

Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation has signed an MoU with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the project.
