Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project to be Complete by Dec 2027

Bhubaneswar: It is envisioned to complete the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project by December 2027. This was revealed at a meeting of the State-level Project Monitoring Committee held at the Lok Seva Bhavan on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of the first phase of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project.

According to the official press release, the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena discussed funding arrangements, technical specifications, station plans at various locations, platform arrangements, etc.

Within the next 6 to 8 months, tendering will be done concerning land planning and structural arrangements, civil works, relocation of various utilities etc. according to the project.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for this project in January 2024. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an agreement with the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation to implement the project as a turn-key consultant for the construction of the metro rail from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia.

This meeting was attended by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department G Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary of Finance Department Vishal Kumar Dev, Special Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Manoj Kumar Mishra (Railway Corporation) and other members of the committee.
