PM Modi Hails Launch of Chandrayaan-3 as “New Chapter” in India’s Space Odyssey

India successfully launched its third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, on Friday. The launch took place at 2:35 pm IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

The mission is a follow-up to Chandrayaan-2, which was launched in 2019. Chandrayaan-3 will carry a lander and rover to the moon, where they will conduct scientific experiments.

The launch was hailed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said it was a “new chapter” in India’s space odyssey. He said the mission would “elevate the dreams and ambitions of every Indian.”

Modi also tweeted that Chandrayaan-3 would be inserted into the lunar transfer trajectory after the orbit-raising manoeuvres. He said the mission would cover over 300,000 km and reach the moon in the coming weeks.

The scientific instruments on board Chandrayaan-3 will study the moon’s surface and enhance our knowledge of the lunar body.

The launch of Chandrayaan-3 is a significant achievement for India’s space program. It demonstrates the country’s growing capabilities in space exploration.
