Brazil Secures Hosting Rights For 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Bangkok: In a historic decision at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Brazil has been chosen to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. This marks the first time the tournament will be held in South America, with Brazil securing 119 votes to edge out the joint bid from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, which received 78 votes.

Brazilian Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues expressed his enthusiasm, declaring, “This is a victory for world women’s football. I assure you all that Brazil will stage the best Women’s World Cup in history.” He emphasized that the event will significantly boost the development of women’s football across Brazil and South America.

Brazil has previously hosted the men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014.

The 2027 Women’s World Cup will be the tournament’s tenth edition, featuring 32 teams competing in ten cities. Spain currently holds the title, joining the United States (four titles), Germany (two), Japan and Norway as past champions.
