Bumrah Likely to be Rested, Fit-Again Rahul Set to be Back for 4th Test vs England

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is set to be rested for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi, beginning February 23, to manage his workload. Meanwhile, KL Rahul is set to make a comeback after recovering from a quadriceps injury.

Bumrah, the leading wicket-taker in the series with 17 dismissals, played a pivotal role in India’s victories, particularly in the second Test. With India leading the series 2-1, the decision to rest Bumrah aims at preserving his fitness, considering his significant workload in the preceding matches.

Rahul, who missed the previous two Tests due to his quadriceps issue, is nearing full fitness and is expected to join the squad for the upcoming match. His return will bolster India’s batting lineup, especially after his impressive performance in the series opener in Hyderabad.

The team management’s focus on workload management is evident, as seen in Mohammed Siraj’s rest during the second Test, which resulted in his impactful return in the subsequent match.

While India aims to seal the series in Ranchi, the availability of Bumrah for the final Test in Dharamsala remains crucial if needed.
