Exhilarating India-Pakistan Clash On The Cards At 2023 Asia Cup; Groups Announced

Mumbai: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President, Jay Shah released the pathway structure and cricket calendar for cricket in Asia on Thursday. The calendar revealed that India and Pakistan would be slotted in the same group for the 2023 Asia Cup to be played in September. This means a mouthwatering clash between the arch-rivals is on the cards this September.

Bangladesh, the reigning champions Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and a team from the qualifying rounds will also be competing alongside India and Pakistan in the tournament. However, the calendar does not mention the host venue for Asia Cup 2023.

The “pathway structure and cricket calendars” for cricket in Asia were released on social media by Shah, who also serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to the schedule, ACC will host 145 matches in both ODIs and T20Is during the course of its two-year cycle. In keeping with the cycle, 75 games will be played in 2023 and 70 games are scheduled for 2024. Also returning is the men’s developing (U23) Asia Cup.

India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group with a qualification for the women’s Asia Cup, which will take place in September 2024. In the other group, Sri Lanka will be joined by Bangladesh and another qualifier.
