India Vs Sri Lanka: KL Rahul’s Half-Century Helps India Seal ODI Series

KL Rahul’s fighting half-century helped India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second one-day international at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. With this win, the Men in Blue took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Chasing a target of 216, India lost wickets at regular intervals. With the scorecard reading 86/4, Rahul and Hardik Pandya (36) built a solid base for the Men in Blue. The duo put on a 75-run stand for the fifth wicket. Rahul scored a solid, unbeaten 64, including six fours. Axar Patel played a quick cameo, scoring 21 runs. After the dismissal of Axar, Kuldeep Yadav joined Rahul to help India chase down the target (216) in 43.2 overs.

Earlier, batting first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 215 in 39.4 overs. Mohammed Siraj registered figures of 5.4-0-30-3 while Kuldeep Yadav completed his 10 overs, giving 51 runs and taking three wickets. Nuwanidu Fernando top-scored with a 50, while Kusal Mendis added a run-a-ball 34.

India will take on Sri Lanka in the last and final ODI on January 15 in Thiruvananthapuram.
