IPL 2023 Final: Who Will Win if GT vs CSK Match Gets Washed Out?

Ahmedabad: The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is set to conclude with an exciting summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The defending champions, Gujarat Titans, aim to retain their trophy against the formidable Chennai Super Kings, led by the legendary MS Dhoni.

However, heavy rain in Ahmedabad has delayed the toss, adding an extra element of anticipation to the final encounter.

Is there a Reserve Day for the IPL 2023 Final?

To account for potential disruptions due to rain, a reserve day has been allocated for the IPL 2023 final. If play is not possible on Sunday, the match will be rescheduled for Monday.

Cut-off Timings for a Match:

In case of a delayed start, the cut-off time for a match is 9:35 PM. If play cannot begin by this time, the number of overs will be reduced accordingly. For a 5-over game, the cut-off time is 12:06 AM.

Super Over Rules and Cut-off:

If the final faces further delays and it is not possible to complete a 5-over match within the extra time on the reserve day, the tournament will be decided by a Super Over, provided the conditions allow.

Determining the Winner if Super Over Is Not Possible:

In the unlikely event that it is not possible to start or complete the Super Over without interruption, the team that finished highest in the league table after the 70 matches of the regular season will be declared the winner of the playoff match or final.

This rule favours the Gujarat Titans if the final is completely abandoned. As the defending champions, they will secure the title due to their superior performance during the league stage compared to the Chennai Super Kings.
