Bengal Cop Hangs Himself, Accuses Senior Officer in Suicide Note

Nadia (WB): In a tragic incident that unfolded in Bengal’s Nadia district, a police officer identified as Gour Gopal Ganguly was found dead by hanging in his room.

A suicide note recovered at the scene contained the names of his in-charge and a lawyer, prompting authorities to initiate a thorough investigation.

The untimely demise of Sub-Inspector Ganguly, who served at the Nakashipara police station under the Krishnanagar police district, has raised concerns about the circumstances leading to his tragic decision.

Upon completing his duty on Saturday, Ganguly returned home. However, he became unreachable since Sunday morning, prompting a concerned colleague to visit his residence. To their dismay, the officer found the door locked from the inside, necessitating the use of a gas cutter to gain access. Inside, Ganguly’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from the ceiling. Immediate efforts were made to transport him to the Nakashipara primary health centre, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Authorities launched an investigation upon discovering the suicide note, with specific attention given to the names mentioned in the letter. The inspector-in-charge, whose name was referenced, has chosen not to comment on the matter at this time. Speculations have arisen that Ganguly may have been under immense pressure related to the arrest of a suspect, potentially contributing to his decision to take his own life. The Krishnanagar Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Krishanu Roy, has assured a thorough and serious investigation into the incident.
