Chinese Lifter Jiang Huihua Shatters Mirabai Chanu’s World Record at World Championships

New Delhi: In a remarkable display of strength at the World Championships, Chinese weightlifter Jiang Huihua shattered the clean-and-jerk world record previously held by Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu. She lifted an impressive 120 kg, surpassing the previous record of 119 kg held by India’s Mirabai Chanu.

Huihua’s achievement not only secured her World Championships crown but also etched her name in the record books. She also set a new world record for the total lift, hoisting 215 kg.

Hou Zhihui of China finished second with a total lift of 211 kg, while Jourdan Delacruz of the United States took the bronze medal with 200 kg.

Chanu, the frontrunner in this weight class, opted to withdraw from the competition after the weigh-in, as she has set her sights on the upcoming Asian Games scheduled to commence later this month.
