Father Allegedly Slits Throat of 3-Year-Old Daughter Following Domestic Altercation

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident today on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, a man named Ganesh Singh allegedly slit the throat of his three-year-old daughter during a heated altercation with his wife, Pana Singh.

The couple earns their livelihood as daily wage labourers at a brick kiln in Satakania locality, Balakati.

The exact cause of the dispute leading to this horrific event remains unknown at this time. However, the confrontation escalated to a point where Ganesh, seemingly losing control, used a blade to inflict severe injuries to the child’s neck.

Prompt action from local residents saved the injured toddler, who was found in a critical condition amidst a pool of blood. She was swiftly taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Balakati for immediate medical attention. Later, due to her deteriorating condition, she was transferred to Capital Hospital in Unit-VI, Bhubaneswar, and subsequently to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack.

As of now, the child remains in critical condition, with a treating doctor at SCBMCH stating that she is not yet out of danger. This incident serves as a grim reminder of the need for awareness and intervention in cases of domestic disputes to prevent such tragic outcomes.
