Burglary Spree Hits Bhubaneswar’s Metro Satellite City, Residents Fear for Safety

Bhubaneswar: In a recent spate of burglaries, Metro Satellite City in Bhubaneswar fell victim to a string of thefts, leaving residents concerned for their safety. The incidents, which occurred under the jurisdiction of Pahala police station, saw burglars targeting four flats within the apartment complex, making off with valuable items worth lakhs of rupees.

According to affected flat owners, the stolen items included gold ornaments and a substantial amount of cash. Surveillance footage captured the burglars entering the flats, their faces covered, before swiftly looting the premises.

Despite previous claims by the Commissionerate Police of busting such gangs, the recurrence of burglary incidents has cast doubt on the efficacy of law enforcement efforts. Residents lamented the lack of security provisions, with some expressing shock at the audacity of the criminals, who reportedly targeted multiple blocks within the society.

“We feel extremely unsafe in Bhubaneswar,” remarked one resident, echoing the sentiments of others who had fallen prey to the burglars. Another resident voiced concerns over the apparent expertise of the gang in executing housebreaking operations, highlighting the need for improved security measures.

The CCTV footage revealed the burglars’ familiarity with the layout of the apartment complex, indicating premeditated planning and reconnaissance. Despite attempts to reach out, Commissionerate Police officials remained unavailable for comment on the matter.
