No Hanuman Jayanti Procession in Sambalpur This Year To Ensure Peaceful Elections

Sambalpur: Sambalpur will forgo its usual Hanuman Jayanti procession this year due to the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.

District Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal announced the decision after meeting with members of the Hanuman Jayanti Samanwaya Samiti. This move prioritizes maintaining peace and order during the twin elections.

“The administration encourages residents to celebrate puja within their localities,” stated the collector.

Elaborate security measures are being implemented to prevent any potential violence during the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.

Last year, Sambalpur witnessed disturbances during a Hanuman Jayanti procession, resulting in injuries to 15 individuals, including police personnel. Tragically, a tribal youth was fatally stabbed in the city two days later.
