“Can Afford Full Suit For Final”: Mayanti Langer Claps Back at Trolls Ahead of World Cup Final

Ahmedabad: Mayanti Langer, the well-known sports presenter, faced online trolling during the India vs. New Zealand World Cup semi-final broadcast due to her attire. Social media users edited pictures of her alongside cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, sparking controversy. Addressing the trolls on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the India vs. Australia final, Mayanti sarcastically responded to their “genuine concern” about her outfit, stating, “Fear not, we can afford a full suit for the Final.”

Mayanti, who began her broadcasting career in 2007, has risen to prominence as one of television’s most recognized faces. Despite the trolling, she showcased resilience, sharing a picture of herself in a suit.

The World Cup final, reminiscent of the 2003 summit clash, will see India face Australia at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. India secured their spot with a 70-run victory over New Zealand in the semi-final, marking their fourth World Cup final appearance. Having won in 1983 and 2011 and faced a loss in 2003 against Australia, India aims for their third title, seeking redemption from the heartbreaking defeat in Johannesburg.

Australia, reaching their eighth World Cup final, triumphed over South Africa in a tight game at Kolkata, winning by three wickets. With previous World Cup victories in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015, the Aussies are determined to add another title to their impressive record. The stage is set for an intense final showdown between cricket giants India and Australia.
