Mulitple Gunshots Heard Near England Team’s Hotel In Pakistan

Multan: Ahead of the 2nd Test match between Pakistan and England, there were reports of gunshots being heard within a kilometre of the team hotel on Thursday. The incident involved a shootout between two local gangs; four people were arrested in connection with this.

As per reports, there was a significant security presence, as has become customary whenever foreign teams visit Pakistan lately. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would like for everything to go according to plan because international cricket has only recently returned to the nation, and any security threat will further jeopardise their hopes to host bilateral series at home.

The incident occurs against the backdrop of the PCB’s ongoing protest after concerns over India’s participation in the Asia Cup if it is staged in Pakistan next year were raised.

Additionally, Pakistan has been given the privilege of hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

In terms of the series, England registered a historic victory in the first Test at Rawalpindi by defeating Pakistan by 74 runs on a placid pitch following an exhilarating declaration by captain Ben Stokes.

Pakistan’s prospects of reaching the World Test Championship final the following year were severely damaged by the defeat.
