NZ Vs IND, 3rd ODI: India Suffer First Series Loss In 10 Months As Penultimate ODI Gets Washed Away

Christchurch: The third and penultimate ODI between New Zealand and India was abandoned due to rain at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Wednesday.

With this India’s unbeaten run in the last 10 months in bilateral ODI competitions came to an end.

Courtesy of this match being called off, the Blackcaps won the series 1-0 as they had previously won the 1st and only completed ODI of the series at Eden Park in Auckland.

Notably, the 2nd ODI of the series was also called off due to rain.

New Zealand were 104 for 1 in 18 overs in the chase of 220 runs against India when the rain interrupted the game, eventually forcing it to be abandoned.

Earlier, Washington Sundar hit his maiden ODI fifty but New Zealand still bundled out India for 219 runs. Adam Milne and Daryl Mitchell claimed three wickets apiece. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had won the toss and opted to bowl first against India.

This is also India’s successive ODI series loss in New Zealand. Kiwi bowlers were all over the Indian batsmen in the first inning. The Kiwis were good with the bat too as Allen smashed a fifty and Conway was playing a gritty knock. So that’s the wrap from this one.

India will next tour Bangladesh in a 3-match ODI series followed by a 2-match test series.
