PR Sreejesh Pens Heartfelt Farewell Note Ahead of Paris Olympics Bronze Medal Match

Paris: India’s veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has penned a heartfelt farewell note ahead of his final appearance in hockey. The 36-year-old will play his last match during the India vs Spain bronze medal game in Paris on Thursday.

Sreejesh, who has been a standout performer throughout the tournament, helped India reach the semifinals with numerous impressive saves. India will compete for the bronze for the second consecutive Olympics after an unfortunate semifinal defeat to Germany.

In his emotional message shared on social media, Sreejesh expressed deep gratitude for his journey and the unwavering support of fans. He reflected on his career, stating, “As I stand between the posts for the final time, my heart swells with gratitude and pride. This journey, from a young boy with a dream to the man defending India’s honour, has been nothing short of extraordinary.”

He continued, “Today, I play my last match for India. Every save, every dive, every roar of the crowd will forever echo in my soul. Thank you, India, for believing in me, for standing by me. This is not the end, but the beginning of cherished memories. Forever a custodian of dreams. Jai Hind.”

Sreejesh’s illustrious career began with the junior team in 2004, advancing to the senior side in 2006. After solidifying his position as the primary goalkeeper in 2011, he has participated in four Olympics, including winning a bronze medal in Tokyo in 2021.

As Sreejesh steps onto the field for the last time, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in Indian hockey.
