T20 World Cup On Pat Cummins’ Mind As He Gears Up For IPL Stint With SRH

Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, is eager to use the upcoming IPL 2024 as a platform to fine-tune his T20 skills ahead of the T20 World Cup in June, jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies. Having skipped IPL 2023 due to a demanding international schedule, Cummins secured a significant deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad, fetching Rs 20.50 crore, the second-highest bid in the recent Dubai auction.

Expressing his excitement, Cummins stated, “I feel like I haven’t played my best T20 cricket in a while, and I’m looking forward to showcasing my skills before the World Cup.” The fast bowler, who previously played for KKR in 2022, holds the record for the fastest men’s T20 half-century by an Australian, achieved in just 14 balls.

Joining Cummins at Sunrisers Hyderabad is his teammate and World Cup final hero, Travis Head, who was acquired for Rs 6.8 crore. Cummins, in a video shared on the Sunrisers’ Instagram page, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the team, saying, “Pumped to be joining SRH for the upcoming IPL season. I’ve heard a lot about the Orange Army and can’t wait to get started.”

Acknowledging the addition of Travis Head to the squad, Cummins anticipates a season filled with fun and success. The duo’s participation in the IPL is seen as a strategic move to prepare for the T20 World Cup and make a compelling case for their inclusion in the national team.
