WATCH: KKR Fan Caught Trying to Steal Cricket Ball During IPL Match vs MI

Kolkata: In a peculiar turn of events during the IPL 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11, a young KKR fan attempted to steal the match ball after a six was struck into the stands.

The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media.

The fan, wearing a KKR shirt, tried to leave the stadium with the match ball hidden in his pocket, but he was caught by the police. The authorities quickly retrieved the ball from him and escorted him out of the stands at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

The KKR vs MI match resulted in a victory for KKR, with Shreyas Iyer’s team defeating Hardik Pandya’s MI by 18 runs. This win secured KKR’s place in the IPL 2024 playoffs, making them one of the top two teams in the league stage of the campaign.

Notably, this is the first time KKR has made it to the playoffs since their appearance in the final of the 2021 season.

Additionally, KKR’s victory over MI marked the third instance in which the Knight Riders beat Mumbai both times in a single IPL edition, following their successes in 2014 and 2022. With 9 wins out of 12 matches, KKR extended their lead at the top of the IPL 2024 points table.
