WI v IND, 1st Test Day 2: India Eye Extensive Lead Following Dominant Day 1

Roseau: The opening day of the 1st Test between West Indies and India was completely dominated by the visitors. Ravichandran Ashwin, with his 33rd five-wicket haul in Tests, played a pivotal role in putting India in a commanding position.

West Indies had a dismal performance in the first innings, getting bundled out for a mere 150 runs. India, in their second innings, made a positive start with openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal displaying a confident mindset. Currently, India’s run-rate stands at 3.48.

A noteworthy aspect of the second innings was the fearlessness displayed by Jaiswal. He didn’t hesitate to score boundaries and even executed a reverse-sweep against left-arm orthodox bowler Jomel Warrican on the first ball of the final over of the day.

This Test series marks the beginning of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both teams. Both India and West Indies will be eager to start off on a positive note, especially considering their disappointing performances in their recent games.

Day 2 of the match is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM (IST) and promises to deliver action, entertainment, and plenty of excitement. India is expected to continue their dominance on the second day at the Windsor Park in Dominica.

Brief Scores:

India- 80/0, Yashasvi Jaiswal 40* (73), Rohit Sharma: 30* (65)

West Indies- 150/10,  Alick Athanaze 47 (99), R Ashwin 5/60
