5-Yr-Old Girl Dies After Falling Into Cauldron of Boiling Dal

Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old girl, who was seriously injured after falling into a cauldron of boiling dal, died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Tuesday.

According to sources, the deceased child’s mother Namita Mallick, a resident of Mohana in Gajapati district, who is a cook had taken the child to Damadua Government Girls’ Ashram School on April 16.

While Namita was busy cooking, the child while playing accidentally fell into a large cauldron of boiling dal.

She was immediately rushed to Mohana Hospital in Gajapati district. Later she was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated. She succumbed to her burn injuries on Tuesday after struggling for life for eight days.
