Cold Wave Sweeps Across Odisha; Mercury Dips Below 10° C At 10 Places

Bhubaneswar: An intense cold swept across Odisha in the past 24 hours with the mercury plummeting to 6 degrees Celsius in G Udayagiri in Kandhamal, making it the coldest place in the state.

The mercury dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in as many as 10 places of the State, India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Bhubaneswar regional centre said on Friday.

According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar officials, severe cold wave conditions will continue to prevail in several parts of Odisha for the next two to three days.

Eleven places recorded a night temperature of 15 degree Celsius and below:-

G Udayagiri in Kandhamal: 6

Phulbani in Kandhamal: 6.6

Daringbadi in Kandhamal: 7.5

Kirei in Sundargarh: 8.2

Chipilima in Sambalpur: 9.2

Jharsuguda: 9.6

Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi: 9.6

Ranital in Bhadrak: 10

Angul: 10

Sundargarh: 10

Koraput: 10

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw mercury dropping to 14.2 degree Celsius and 13.6 degree Celsius respectively.
