Odia TV Serial Actress Sonakshi Adopts Balasore Girl Subhadra As Her Sister

Balasore: After writing a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Financial assistance has started pouring in for Balasore minor girl Subhadra Panda.

Now, a television actress,  Sonakshi Sahoo alias Uma has extended her hands to assist the minor fatherless girl, Subhadra who has been struggling since her childhood. Uma on Sunday accepted Subhadra as her sister and promised to take care of her upbringing from today onwards.

It is pertinent to be mentioned here that Subhadra was adopted by Shrinivasa and his wife Annapurna while she was just 21 days old, though she was born to a lower caste family.

However, the foster mother and daughter suffered after Shrinibasa’s untimely demise. Subsequently, the mother lost her mental balance with the death of the bread earner.

Subhadra, who is now in Class-X, is living with her mentally retired mother, with a sum of Rs 500 widow pension, and was managing the family with this. The pension money is, however, too meager to manage the household and study expenses.

After she wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik narrating her ordeal, benevolent individuals, and social organisations have extended their helping hands to assist her.

Meanwhile, Subhadra expressed her happiness after getting Uma as her sister, and the latter was also seen as overwhelmed while meeting with the girl. Speaking to Odisha Bhaskar with tearful eyes, Uma said that she will always be with Subhadra.
