Decomposed Leopard Carcass Found In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: The discovery of a leopard’s decomposed carcass from Dudurkote forest in the Hindol forest range in Dhenkanal on Wednesday has raised major concerns about the safety of wild animals in Odisha at a time when the State’s ongoing deaths of elephants have outraged animal lovers.

Although the leopard’s exact cause of death has not yet been determined, it is thought that the large cat may have passed away a few days ago.

With the most recent passing, the forest range has now seen two leopard deaths in the past 12 months.

A team from the forest department arrived at the scene and started an inquiry to find out what exactly happened to cause the leopard’s death.

“We learned that a leopard carcass was laying. It’s thought that the leopard passed just a day or two ago. There were no traps discovered at the scene, and the precise cause of the death is still unknown. The problem is being looked into, according to Dhenkanal Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Prakash Chand Gogineni.
