NCRB report raises tension in the country: 82 murders every day

New Delhi: According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, an average of 82 people were killed in India in 2021. Jharkhand has the highest murder rate at 4.1 per 1 lakh population. The report shows that the homicide rate in Delhi is 2.2.

According to the NCRB report, 30,132 people lost their lives in 2021 in a total of 29,272 murder cases. This is 0.3 percent more than the previous year. In 2020, the total number of murders in the country was 29,193. In Uttar Pradesh, the maximum number of 3,737 murder cases have been reported, while 3,825 people have lost their lives.

It is followed by Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. According to the annual report, 9,765 murders occurred due to conflict, 3,782 due to personal enmity or conspiracy, and 1,692 due to financial transactions.

A total of 1,394 murders occurred in Odisha in 2021. A year ago, in 2020, there were 1,470 murders in the state, while in 2019, the number was 1,356. In the state, 2 people were killed for political reasons, while 67 people were killed for love affairs. Apart from this, 684 people have been killed due to various conflicts, while 111 people have been killed in the land dispute. Family disputes claimed 535 lives, while minor disturbances claimed 26 lives, financial disputes 12, and other causes 205 lives. In Odisha last year, 3 minor boys and 6 minor girls were victims of murder, while the maximum number of 565 men and 473 women between the ages of 18 and 30 years were killed. According to reports, 187 men and 97 women were killed in the age group of 30 to 45 years, while 48 men and 24 women were killed in the age group of 45 to 60 years and 4 men and 4 women were killed in the age group above 60 years.
