Deve Gowda’s Grandson To Be Expelled from JD-S Over Sex Scandal

Bengaluru: Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna is expected to be expelled from the Janata Dal (Secular) by his grandfather and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda over the sex scandal related to explicit videos allegedly showing him sexually assaulting multiple women.

The Janata Dal (Secular) is an ally of the BJP in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The party is likely to decide the fate of Prajwal Revanna at a core committee meeting in Hubbali on Tuesday. Prajwal has denied the allegations and claimed that the videos being circulated are doctored.

JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, former chief minister and Prajwal’s uncle, said on Monday that the party has already decided to suspend his nephew.

A case of sexual harassment and stalking has been filed against the MP. The Karnataka government has also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for investigation of the case.

Prajwal has meanwhile left for Germany. His father HD Revanna, an MLA, alleged that political rivals were behind the conspiracy against his son.

The Karnataka BJP has distanced itself from the controversy and said it has no comments to make on the SIT probe.

Prajwal and his father also face charges of sexually harassing their house maid between 2019 and 2022.
