Sudha Murty Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha MP, Narayan Murthy Invited as Guest

New Delhi: Technocrat-turned-philanthropist Sudha Murty took oath as Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday. Her husband NR Narayana Murthy was invited to the oath-taking ceremony as a guest.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar administered the oath to Sudha Murty in his chamber in Parliament House in the presence of the House Piyush Goyal was also present on the occasion.

Sudha Murty, 73, is the former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and a noted author. She was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Droupadai Murmu on International Women’s Day on March 8.

She has received the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar, the Padma Shri (2006) and the Padma Bhushan (2023).

Her daughter Akshata is married to Rishi Sunak, the present Prime Minister of Britain.
