Ilya Sutskever, co-founder of OpenAI and its former chief scientist launched a new company, Safe Superintelligence Inc (SSI).
Sutskever has resigned from OpenAI. He has cofounded SSI with former Apple AI lead Daniel Gross and ex-OpenAI engineer Daniel Levy. Their company targets to develop a safe and powerful AI system, prioritising safety.
Announcing his new company on X, Sutskever wrote, “I am starting a new company.” In another post on X, he wrote that his new company will pursue “safe superintelligence in a straight shot, with one focus, one goal, and one product.”
Sutskever played a key role in the attempt to oust OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and later he departed from the company.
