Over 100 Nations Rely on India-Made Telecom Equipments, Exports Cross $18 Billion

New Delhi: India’s telecom industry has achieved a significant milestone, with domestically designed and manufactured equipment now reaching over 100 countries worldwide. The government reported that telecom exports, including equipment and services, surpassed $18.2 billion in the previous year.

Madhu Arora, Member (Technology) of the Digital Communications Commission, highlighted the success of Indian telecom companies in Western markets, particularly the United States, despite fierce global competition. She also noted a groundbreaking development in defence technology, with the Indian Army integrating its first indigenous chip-based 4G mobile base station.

Speaking at the ‘Defence Sector ICT Conclave’ in New Delhi, Arora underlined the crucial role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in defence operations. She praised India’s innovative ICT sector for its global leadership and integrity.

The Ministry of External Affairs is actively fostering ICT cooperation with African nations, focusing on emerging technologies like AI and blockchain to address specific challenges. India has become a top investor in Africa, with investments totalling around $75 billion.
