Guv Raghubar Das Announces ₹5 Lakh Assistance for Martyrs’ Families at Odisha Bhaskar’s ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ Event

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Wednesday announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of five martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. The announcement came during the annual ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ celebration organised by Odisha Bhaskar to commemorate Independence Day.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Das expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of the martyrs’ families. “The families of the five martyrs shared their grievances on stage today. I assure them that I will personally meet with them to resolve any issues, whether related to insurance claims or their children’s education,” he said. He further added, “Each family will receive ₹5 lakh to aid in their children’s education, so they may have a better future.”

The five martyrs honoured were Prakash Chandra Siala, Pratap Ranjan Parida, Saroj Kumar Das, Sameer Kumar Jal, and Bhagiratha Mohanty.

The ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ event was held at the Chanakya Auditorium of Swosti Premium Hotel packed with over a thousand attendees. The occasion, celebrating Independence Day, was marked by a moving tribute to the martyrs, with their stories shown on screen, bringing tears to many in the audience.

Governor Das, the chief guest of the event, was joined by other dignitaries including IG of BSF Charudhawaj Agarwal, Wing Commander Rajalaxmi Prithviraj of the 9 Airmen Selection Centre, Col Rohit Kumar Singh of the 120 INF Battalion, Col Sagar K Mohanty, Director of NCC Odisha, DIG of Indian Coast Guard SR Das, and DIG of CRPF BB Sethi.
