Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: CBI Gets Approval for Polygraph Test of RG Kar’s Ex-Principal, 4 Others

Kolkata: A special court in Kolkata on Thursday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission to conduct a lie detector test on Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital where a 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered.

The court also approved polygraph tests for four other doctors who were colleagues of the victim. They had been with her on the night of the crime and had shared dinner. The CBI believes that these tests will help shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

CBI sources confirmed that investigators have decided to use the polygraph test on all five individuals to verify the accuracy of their statements.

On Wednesday, amid ongoing protests related to the case, Dr Sandip Ghosh’s transfer to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital was revoked. Ghosh had resigned from his position as principal on August 12, following the discovery of the victim’s body in the hospital’s seminar hall on August 9.
