Odisha Govt Orders Rustication of SCB Doctor Accused of Raping 2 Patients

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has ordered the rustication of a senior resident doctor from the Cardiology Department of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) following accusations of raping two women patients.

Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Santosh Kumar Mishra, confirmed that the SCBMCH principal has been instructed to rusticate the accused doctor.

The directive comes after an inquiry committee’s investigation, which substantiated the doctor’s involvement in the crime, ruling out any conspiracy or false allegations, according to DMET Mishra, who led the probe.

The accused, identified as Dilbagh Singh Thakur from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, was arrested on August 13 following a preliminary investigation into complaints lodged by the victims at Mangalabag Police Station. The incident reportedly occurred on August 11 when the patients visited the hospital for an echocardiogram (ECHO) test.
