CBI to Conduct Lie Detector Test on Kolkata Rape-Murder Accused Today

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to conduct a polygraph test on Sunday for Sanjoy Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata hospital, according to reports. The test was initially delayed due to technical issues.

On Saturday, the CBI conducted lie detector tests on the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and five others as part of the ongoing investigation. The CBI has also registered a case concerning alleged financial irregularities at the hospital.

“The polygraph tests involve Ghosh and five others, including interns, doctors and an associate of Roy. Technical problems delayed Roy’s test, but it will likely take place soon,” said a CBI officer.

According to a CBI source, the test on Roy might be conducted at the Presidency Correctional Home, where he is currently detained.

The CBI is expected to take several more days to complete the polygraph tests on all seven individuals due to the time-consuming nature of the procedure and the limited availability of testing devices.

In addition, the CBI questioned over 15 individuals, including 10 police officers and civic volunteers, on Saturday as part of their investigation into the trainee doctor’s murder.
