Soldier Missing Near India-China Border Rescued After 3 Days Under Snow

An Indian soldier who went missing during a border patrol near the India-China border, has been safely rescued after being trapped under snow for three days.

The soldier, identified as Anil Ram from Bihar’s Buxar, was part of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team patrolling from Munsyari to Milam when he lost his way due to heavy snowfall.

Along with his porter, Devendra Singh, Anil sought refuge in a cave located 84 km from Munsyari. A relentless rescue mission was launched, with the team braving extreme weather conditions and deep snow.

After 36 hours of search efforts, both Anil and Devendra were found and rescued. Anil has been hospitalised at an army facility in Uttarakhand and is receiving medical care. His family, especially his brother Gandhi Kumar, expressed relief over his rescue.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shreshth Gunsola confirmed their safety, crediting the rescue team’s perseverance, as they navigated through four feet of snow to save them.
