Dera Karseva Chief Of Uttarakhand’s Nanakmatta Sahib Gurdwara Shot Dead

Dehradun: The dera karseva chief of Nanakmatta Sahib Gurdwara Baba Tarsem Singh in Uttarakhand was shot dead within the shrine’s premises by two unidentified assailants on motorcycles. Senior Superintendent of Police Manju Nath confirmed that Singh was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The perpetrators, captured on clear CCTV footage, were identified as Sikhs. They entered the gurdwara premises around 6:15 am and fired two shots at Singh, who was seated at the time. The assailants quickly fled the scene following the attack. The Nanakmatta Sahib Gurdwara, located in Udham Singh Nagar district, is a revered Sikh shrine along the Rudrapur-Tanakpur route.

Terming the incident as “serious,” Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Eight police teams have been deployed to track down the attackers, and Kumar stated that if there’s a conspiracy involved, it will be uncovered with the help of central agencies.
