No Gang Rape, Sanjoy Roy Sole Accused in Rape, Murder of Kolkata Doctor: CBI Chargesheet

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ruled out gang rape in the rape and murder case of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, which had shocked the nation. According to the CBI’s charge sheet, Sanjoy Roy, a former contractual worker with the Kolkata Police, is the sole accused in the crime.

The CBI, which wrapped up its investigation within two months, will submit its charge sheet today at the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Sealdah.

As per CBI sources, statements from nearly 200 people have been included in the charge sheet, with Roy named as the prime accused.

The doctor was discovered dead on August 9, revealing the gruesome nature of the assault.

The court had directed the CBI to take over the case following widespread protests.

Roy, a frequent visitor to the hospital, was arrested by Kolkata Police the following day. He was later handed over to the CBI along with the evidence collected.
