Ex-MLA, BJP Leader Niranjan Pradhan Passes Away At 65

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA from Ganjam district and BJP leader Niranjan Pradhan passed away at the age of 65 at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Thursday night.

Political leaders of Odisha mourned his death.

Niranjan was born in Ghodapalana village of Polsara block. He started his political career in 1979 by getting inspired by former minister Ramakrushna Patnaik. He became a sarpanch from Ghodapalan in 1980. He was the Polsara Block Chairman from 1990 to 1993.

He won from the Kodala assembly constituency as a BJD candidate in 2004. In 2009, he became the BJD MLA from the Polasara assembly seat.  When he was denied a BJD ticket to contest the assembly polls, he left the BJD in 2019 to join the BJP.

The MLA’s body will be kept in the Odisha assembly today for last respects to be paid by political leaders and ministers.
