Former Salepur MLA Prakash Behera Quits BJP, May Join BJD

Bhubaneswar: BJP’s Cuttack district president, Prakash Chandra Behera, who is also the former MLA of Salepur, has resigned from the saffron party.

Behera sent his resignation letter to the BJP state president Manmohan Samal on Thursday.

In his resignation letter, he wrote, “I have always tried to do justice to my position and the team has tried to achieve milestones. But I could not give satisfactory results.”

Behera won the 2014 Assembly polls from the Salepur assembly constituency on Congress ticket. In 2019, he left Congress and joined the BJP to contest from the same seat. But he lost to BJD’s Prashant Behera.

According to sources, he is expected to join the BJD.
