Cricketer Mohammed Siraj Takes Charge as DSP in Telangana

Hyderabad: Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana, as announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday. This recognition comes in light of Siraj’s contributions to the Indian cricket team, particularly following their T20 World Cup victory earlier this year.

In addition to his new role, Siraj has been allocated a plot of land measuring 600 square yards in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. He officially took charge of his position after reporting to Dr Jitender, the Director General of Police for Telangana. Images of Siraj in his police uniform quickly circulated on social media, showcasing his appreciation for the honour bestowed upon him.

On the same day, Siraj was also named in India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16. He joins fellow pacers Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah, who has been appointed vice-captain of the Test team. Siraj rose to prominence during the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy, where he played a crucial role in India’s 2-1 series victory over Australia.

As India prepares for a series of five Tests in Australia later this year, Siraj is expected to be a key player. Reports suggest that captain Rohit Sharma may miss one of the initial two Tests for personal reasons, which could lead to Bumrah stepping up as captain in his absence.
