14 Dead, 18 Injured in Fire at University Dormitory in Iran

A massive fire at a university dormitory near Iraq’s northern city of Erbil left at least 14 people dead and 18 injured on Friday evening, stated the head of the local health directorate.

This dormitory at a building in the small city of Soran, east of Erbil, was inhabited by lecturers and students. The fire broke out in the evening and engulfed the whole building. Local news agency Rudaw reported that the fire had been extinguished by Friday night.

Iran’s state media confirmed the death toll.
