2 Police Officials of Choudwar Transferred for Alleged Participation in Political Meeting

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha ordered the transfer of the Inspector In Charge (IIC) and Sub Inspector (SI) posted at the Choudwar police station in Cuttack district within 24 hours. Both these police officials were alleged to have shared the dais with political leaders violating the model code of conduct for government officials during elections. Additional Chief Electoral Officer N Thirumala Nayak, in a letter to Commissioner, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack and Cuttack DCP on Friday, ordered to transfer the Choudwar IIC Biswaranjan Sahoo and SI Saraswati Swain out of the constituency.

Both these police officers were also asked to submit the compliance letter of the transfer order within 24 hours.

BJP leaders had complained against the IIC and the SI alleging that they addressed an election meeting organized by the BJD in the Athgarh Assembly constituency in Cuttack district.
