25 More Scrub Typhus Cases in Sundargarh, Total cases Rise to 355

Sundargarh: The rise in scrub typhus cases are on the rise in the Sundargarh district of Odisha. Twenty-five more scrub typhus cases were detected in the district in the last 24 hours.

With these new cases, the total number of scrub typhus-positive cases in Sundargarh reached 355. According to officials, 108 blood samples were sent for testing on Thursday, and 25 of them tested positive.

Till now one person has died of the disease in the district while another has been admitted to ICU in critical condition.

Scrub typhus spreads through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites). The common symptoms of the disease include fever and a black inflamed mark on the skin called ‘eschar’. People frequenting farmland or forests are vulnerable to this infection.

Scrub typhus has claimed seven lives in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
